Hey there, and welcome to another episode of The Sheri Kaye Hoff Show. Your host here. And today, we're diving into something that so many of us face—stepping into something new.
Whether it's launching a passion project, making a big life decision, or just simply trying a new approach, the journey of growth can feel exciting and a little overwhelming too. But here's the truth.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to start.
In this episode, we're talking about the four key steps that will help you navigate any new direction with confidence.
And those steps are:
- Experiment. Give yourself permission to play and explore.
- Learn. Embrace lessons from every step forward.
- Practice. Repetition builds confidence and skill.
- Find support. Success happens faster when you have the right people in your corner.
By the end of this episode, you'll feel empowered to take action, let go of fear, and trust the process. Because that's where the magic really happens.
So grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's talk about how you can step into your next big thing with courage and clarity.
So let's start with the first step: experimenting.
So often, we get stuck before we even begin because we think we need a perfect plan. But real progress happens when you're willing to test things out and explore different possibilities.
Think about it. Some of the most successful people in the world didn't have everything figured out before they started. They experimented, adjusted, and kept moving forward.
So here's a mindset shift.
What if instead of trying to be perfect, you just allowed yourself to play?
Try new ideas without overthinking. Give yourself permission to be a beginner. Approach everything with curiosity instead of fear.
So here's a quick story. A client of mine wanted to start a business but kept putting it off because she didn't feel ready. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment, I encouraged her to just start sharing her ideas on social media just for fun, as an experiment.
Within a few weeks, she gained traction, and within months, she had built an engaged community.
What's something you could experiment with right now? Write it down. Maybe it's a new skill, a side project, or even a shift in your mindset. Whatever it is, let go of the pressure to get it right the first time.
Just try.
Now let's talk about the learning process. Growth doesn't happen in a straight line. It's full of twists, turns, and unexpected lessons. Every single step forward brings insight. Even if something doesn't go as planned, you're learning.
And that's a huge win.
Here's a powerful truth. Mistakes don't mean failure. Mistakes mean you're in motion. You're doing something. I like to think of learning as one big adventure.
Imagine if you were on a road trip and got lost. Would you turn around and go home?
No, you'd reroute, explore, and keep going. The same applies to life and success.
So instead of avoiding failure, learn to lean into the learning process.
What worked? What didn't?
How can you tweak and improve? What's the lesson here?
I've got a journal prompt for you. Think about a time when you learned something valuable from an unexpected experience.
How did it help you grow?
Let's move on to practice. This is where the magic happens. The key to confidence? It's repetition. The more you show up and take action, the more natural it becomes.
Think about any skill you've mastered—driving a car, writing, speaking. It probably felt awkward at first, right?
But over time, it became second nature. The same applies to any new direction you're taking.
Here's a pro tip. Instead of focusing on being the best, focus on getting 1 percent better every day. Small, consistent actions do add up in really powerful ways. And remember, you don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
So here's a challenge.
What's something you can commit to practicing for the next 30 days? Whether it's writing, speaking, networking, or showing up online, take one small step today.
And this is personal. Make it meaningful for you.
Now let's talk about something so, so important and often neglected, and that is finding support.
Too many people struggle in silence, thinking they have to do everything alone. But success happens faster and feels better when you have the right people in your corner.
Surround yourself with mentors and coaches who guide and challenge you. Like-minded friends who lift you up. Communities that celebrate your wins and encourage you on hard days.
One of my favorite affirmations is: The right people are coming into my life at exactly the right time.
Write that down.

So I really look forward to connecting with you.
So what is one way that you can build more support into your journey today?
Reach out, connect, and watch how much easier the process becomes.
All right, beautiful souls, let's do a quick recap.
Experiment. Give yourself permission to play and explore. Remember how much fun that was when you were a kid?
Learn. Every step teaches you something valuable.
Practice. Confidence comes from repetition. You've got to practice in order to be confident and in order to be good.
Find support. You don't have to do this alone. And so many people who are go-getters forget about this step because they're in that mode of "I can do it myself."
But please, please find your support system. Your path to success isn't about being perfect. It's about showing up, taking action, and allowing yourself to evolve so you can have the heart and soul-based success that you're looking for.
I'd love to hear from you. So what's something new you're working on or exploring right now? Send me a message, drop a comment, join the conversation in my Facebook group or on Instagram.
